AHA 2018 grad reception

The American Historical Association (AHA) held its annual conference in Washington, D.C., January 4-7 2018.  Catholic University’s Department of History was an active participant.

Two graduate students presented papers: Jeanne-Michelle Datiles, “A Martyr for His Season, and Thus All Seasons: Henry Walpole S.J., Richard Verstegan, and the Elizabethan Catholic Martyr Discourse”, and Shane MacDonald, “Law and Sanctity in the Cults of Thirteenth-Century Siena.”  Three faculty members presided over panels and gave comments.

In addition, the department was a co-sponsor of two new AHA initiatives: a reception for undergraduate history majors and another for history graduate students attending the conference (pictured above).
